Efficiency

Objective

First and foremost we look to provide communities with exposure to cutting-edge technologies that may improve their day-to-day or overall lives. To present relevant projects, we must understand the needs of a community. Our overall goal is always to develop technologies that are an improvement to what is already offered in a community. Improvements can be made by developing systems that are faster, more affordable, more efficient, or more customizable. By showcasing the capabilities of IoT technology, future adaptations utilizing the systems in place will become more common place.  

Breakneck ridge initiative

Breakneck Ridge is a hiking trail in New York known for its level of difficulty. The difficulty has led to injuries and casualties in the past, and so IoT Off-Grid partnered with the New York / New Jersey Trail Conference in an effort to provide a solution that may add another layer of safety to the trail. IoT Off-Grid, in this project, is developing an open-source and free-to-use tracking platform that is easy to integrate into current systems. This platform is deployed alongside LoRaWAN trackers, which provide inexperienced hikers with additional safety in case of emergency. It also reduces the need for full-on rescue missions.

Lorawan

LoRaWAN (Long Range Wide Area Network) technology is a suitable and affordable option/alternative for many systems. LoRaWAN has a longer reach of signals with lower power consumption for data transmission due to the use of radio waves for communication. These technical advantages allow for certain technological hurdles to be overcome, as seen in our Breakneck Ridge Initiative that relies on LoRaWAN trackers in an area with normally poor coverage. The Helium network, an already standing network, provides existing infrastructure that helps in giving adequate coverage.
